3 Ways Gated Driveways Help Implement Social Distancing

Apr 13, 2020

The idea of social distancing first began with the global pandemic but has now become a way of life as the world adjusts and educates about virus spread. As you plan out the social distancing guidelines for your own home, consider a gated driveway.

A gated driveway instantly increases the privacy to your home and will help add natural social distancing to your home for years to come. Learn how the gates will help with social distancing and also add some curb appeal to your home with elegant designs and features.

1. Package and Food Deliveries

As a part of social distancing, you may choose to have items delivered to your home rather than go to a store or restaurant. When a delivery person arrives with your items, choose to have the delivery person drop off the items at the privacy gate instead.

The delivery person does not walk onto your property, and you do not need to worry about the person touching doorknobs, doorbells, or other areas. For example, you may have a storm door a person pulls open to knock on the main house door.

Through digital delivery orders, you may choose to pay online, tip online, and have the person drop off the food and leave. Keep your property protected with an entry gate. The gates could feature upgrades which include motion detectors, cameras, or automatic openers. All of the features will help you know when a delivery has arrived.

Along with food orders, the same process may apply to packages. Not only will you limit the social distancing, but the drivers will be able to get back to work and finish other deliveries without the need to walk all the way to your front door.

On the outside of the gate, you may include a drop-off box for items so packages and food don't just sit on the ground. You could find elegant parcel drop boxes to match the elegant design of a driveway gate.

2. Unannounced Visitors

As you implement social distancing into your daily life, the last thing you want to worry about are unannounced visitors to the home. Door-to-door salesmen and other people may try to visit the home. Avoid the close contact with a driveway gate.

Not only does the gate prevent a car from pulling into the driveway, but people may avoid the house naturally with the added protection. If someone does come to the house, you may greet them and communicate through the gate for a natural way to provide social distancing.

The gate provides the distance without needing to explain things to a guest who may not understand your desire to continue social distancing. Secure locks also prevent others from opening the gate without your permission or access.

3. Neighbors

One of the hardest elements to social distance from are your own neighbors. The natural connection from lawn to lawn creates multiple issues. With fencing and a driveway gate, you will help keep neighbors off your property. Additionally, a neighbor may have a dog which wanders onto your property. A driveway gate will help keep the animals off your property.

Choose a driveway gate with small spaces between the bars so pets cannot squeeze through. The protection also keeps neighborhood children off the property. You do not need to worry about children on your lawn, near your vehicles, or the front door.

As social distancing becomes a reality, home upgrades will make a big difference in the way you protect your home and implement safety measures.
